In the run up to the European Union (EU) referendum in summer 2016, passions ran high with debate and propaganda about the implications of Britain remaining or exiting the EU.

Questions were raised about the impact on the army and Britain’s defence policies. Would Britain have to contribute to an EU army? How would Britain’s alliances change?

In light of the leave vote and the beginning of exit negotiations, we’re bringing together a panel of experts to discuss the impact of ‘Brexit’ on the army.

Speakers include:

  • Malcolm Chalmers: Deputy Director-General of the Royal United Services Institute
  • Sophia Besch: Research Fellow, Centre for European Reform
  • Mary Dejevsky: Independent and Guardian journalist
